As an ENERGY STAR participant, AT&T will provide U-verse TV customers with Motorola and Cisco Systems Inc. receivers that meet the new ENERGY STAR efficiency criteria well in advance of Jan. 1, 2009, when it goes into effect. U-verse IPTV receivers offer increased energy efficiency compared with other digital set-top boxes today. ENERGY STAR is a voluntary program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy that sets strict energy-efficiency specifications and promotes qualified products to help American consumers reduce their carbon footprint and save money.

USA Diving Makes a Splash on AT&T Blue Room

Wisconsin Gains AT&T U-verse IPTV; Seeks to Hire 200 U-verse Positions

AT&T introduced U-verse IPTV in Wisconsin in February 2007 and continues to make the service available to more southeastern Wisconsin customers.

The growth of U-verse IPTV and the passage of the Wisconsin Video Choice Act has resulted in the creation of hundreds of new AT&T jobs in Wisconsin. The company is currently seeking to fill 200 premises technician positions across the state, including openings in the northeast Wisconsin and south central Wisconsin areas. These positions are responsible for the installation and customer care of U-verse service. AT&T Blue Room Kicks Off Festival Season with Webcast of Coachella 2008

AT&T U-verse IPTV Expanded Throughout Indiana

AT&T 120x60 Banner  - All productsAT&T U-verse IPTV and Internet services are now available to more than 300,000 living units in parts of several communities throughout Indiana. Since introducing U-verse IPTV to Indiana in December 2006, AT&T has made the service available in parts of many Indiana communities, including Anderson, Bloomington, Indianapolis, Kokomo and Muncie. The service is also available in parts of Lake County, including Gary, Griffith, Merrillville, Highland, Crown Point, Hammond, Schererville and Dyer. There are plans to reach even more Indiana communities.

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed the telecom and video reform law (HEA 1279) into effect in 2006. The legislation was championed by Sen. Hershman and Rep. Mike Murphy. Since passage of the bill, telecom and cable companies around the state have invested more than $500 million in delivering entertainment and communications services across the state.

AT&T U-verse IPTV Now Available in Hartford

AT&T U-verse IPTV Delivers Photos From Flickr

AT&T 120x60 Banner  - All productsAT&T announces the launch of AT&T Online Photos from Flickr on AT&T U-verse IPTV. Customers can now simply and conveniently watch slide shows and browse their online photos from flickr.com right on their U-verse IPTV screens.

AT&T is the only video service provider to offer an integrated online photos channel, and U-verse IPTV and high speed Internet customers can enjoy this feature at no extra charge. Flickr, a Yahoo! photo-sharing service where users can upload, store, share and tag digital photos.

Customers can access their online photos by tuning to Channel 91 or from the U-verse IPTV menu. Customers will then select from their Flickr photo sets, which are automatically available from their master AT&T High Speed Internet account, and they can browse photos or start a slide show.

AT&T U-verse IPTV Adds 3 New HBO HD Channels

AT&T 120x60 Banner  - All productsAT&T U-verse IPTV customers can now enjoy even more HD channels as part of their extensive HD lineup. AT&T and HBO announced the addition of three HBO HD channels to the U-verse IPTV channel lineup, including HBO2 HD, HBO Comedy HD and HBO Family HD.

With these additions, U-verse IPTV customers who subscribe to the HD service option have access to a lineup of more than 40 HD channels. Customers receive HBO channels with a U400 subscription or the addition of an HBO or Movie Package.

HD service is available for $10 a month with any U-verse IPTV programming package. All U-verse IPTV packages include HD-ready equipment, and most include an HD-capable DVR.

at&tAT&T announces that Oklahoma City customers can now enjoy a suite of new U-verse IPTV features that further differentiate the service from cable.

The new interactive features — available to customers at no extra charge — include:
  • AT&T U-bar, which brings customizable weather, stock, sports and traffic information to the U-verse TV screen, without interrupting the current program. Customers who also subscribe to AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet can personalize the U-bar from their AT&T Yahoo! home page to display weather at specific locations, their personal stock portfolio and scores for their favorite sports teams.
  • YELLOWPAGES.COM TV, which lets U-verse IPTV customers easily search for local businesses and other information via their TV screen.

University of Houston to Install 1,000 AT&T U-verse IPTV Connections

The cutting-edge TV and high speed Internet services will be included in every room of a 547,000-square-foot residence hall under construction for graduate and professional students.

The Calhoun Lofts, next to the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business, will contain more than 700 one- and two-bedroom apartments with 1,000 AT&T U-verse connections, along with 10,000 square feet of retail space. School officials chose IPTV as the next-generation video service best suited for the university's next-generation living space.

AT&T U-verse IPTV Adds New HD Channels in New Haven and Hartford

at&tAT&T added more High Definition channels to the U-verse IPTV channel lineup in the New Haven and Hartford areas. The new channels include: WCTX HD (My Network), WNET HD (PBS) and WTXX HD (CW). With these additions, local U-verse IPTV customers with the HD service option have access to a lineup of 44 HD channels — more HD channels than local cable providers offer.

HD service is available for an additional $10 a month with any U-verse TV programming package. All U-verse TV packages include HD-ready equipment, and most include an HD-capable DVR.

AT&T's U-verse Deployments Picking Up Steam

at&tAT&T is looking to speed up its U-verse deployment in hopes of adding 40,000 new customers per week by the end of 2008. Currently U-verse has been adding 12,000 subscribers per week.

As U-verse continues to grow, AT&T will begin pair bonding its last-mile copper lines in the fourth quarter of 2008. For some customers, president of telecom operations John Stankey said that, "should the need arise, we could go up to four HD streams and 40 Mbit/s with pair bonding."

Stankey also stated, "AT&T will add a second HD stream to U-verse by the middle of 2008 and will add its whole-home DVR feature with seven full streams of content available to a single household sometime in the second half of 2008."
