British Telecommunications continues to use
Comtrend’s Power Line Communication technology to enable the delivery of BT’s digital content and next-generation digital TV service, BT Vision. This contract renewal further strengthens Comtrend’s position as the leading provider of home-networking solutions, and demonstrates its continued commitment to working with the world’s leading network operators to make next-generation services in the home a reality.
BT Vision, available across the UK, comes with a V-Box set-top box and two Comtrend Power Grid 902 adapters. It provides over 70 free television and radio channels, the ability to pause and rewind live TV and record and store up to 80 hours of programs.
Comtrend’s adapters, which come pre-configured for plug-and-play home networking, function as a local network bridge between BT’s Home Hub router and the V-Box. Simply by plugging a Power Grid 902 adapter directly into the power outlet near the BT Home Hub, and by plugging one into the power outlet in the room where the V-box resides, BT Vision customers can create a safe and secure home network environment that delivers quick and convenient access to content and entertainment.
The Power Grid 902 adapters are based on the market leading Aitana chipset from semiconductor manufacturer DS2 and support a maximum data transfer rate of 200 Mbits per second, capable of simultaneously supporting a wide range of digital broadband services including IPTV, voice over IP, online gaming and multi-media file sharing. Each adapter features an integrated power socket and mains filter to remove interference caused by connected appliances and are fully BS1363 certified for use in the UK.
