Media Excel, Inc., a leading provider of digital video
solutions for Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Digital Home and Mobile Entertainment, today announced the immediate
availability of SoftStream Digital Media Adaptor (DMA) reference designs running Microsoft's newly released Windows CE 5.0
Networked Media Device Feature Pack.
"As an IPTV solutions company, we understood early on the importance of networked media devices in the digital home. For this
reason, Media Excel committed to provide Digital Media Adaptor (DMA) reference designs using Microsoft Windows CE 5.0
Networked Media Device Feature Pack," said Eduardo Perez, Ph.D., Media Excel V.P. of Marketing. "We are in our third
generation Windows CE platform and provide flexible digital home solutions which include networked DVD players, IP Set-Top
Boxes, and Digital Media Adaptors."
"The reference design of Media Excel's DMA for Windows CE 5.0 is a strong complement for the Windows CE 5.0 Networked Media
Device Feature Pack," said Jane Gilson, director of Windows Embedded at Microsoft Corp. "Media Excel's modular and flexible
device development strategy for mobile and home entertainment aligns well with Microsoft's vision for the Digital Home.
Working with development partners such as Media Excel, Microsoft helps consumer electronics manufacturers build robust home
electronics device portfolios quickly and efficiently."
Media Excel has provided high performance multi-codec Windows CE solutions since 2002 to key accounts in the
telecommunications and consumer electronics industries. "SoftStream DMA enables manufactures to significantly minimize the
platform bill of materials, reduce development cycles, and provide field upgradeable capabilities, while making optimal use
of the features in Windows CE 5.0 Networked Media Device Feature Pack for the ultimate digital home experience," said Dr.
Perez. "In a dynamic industry, it is imperative that the devices quickly and easily adapt to these changes. SoftStream DMA
delivers exactly this to the Digital Home industries."
