VIC TOKAI CORPORATION will be the first cable operator in Japan to commercially launch residential VoD services utilizing IP network through CATV, with assured bandwidth to guarantee high quality pictures. Various interactive TV applications such as on-line games, karaoke on demand and learning on demand will be the next focus for future service expansions.
With combined solution offering of Streaming21's carrier-class streaming solutions and NEO Index's attractive contents, this service has been successfully deployed to the whole areas of VIC TOKAI CORPORATION's CATV service to millions of households in Japan. This service characterizes that user can enjoy high quality images provided by assured bandwidth telecommunication service with bit rate of 5 Mbps in the downstream direction and 0.5 Mbps in the upstream direction on TV set at home. From the NEO Index's collection of more than 3,000 titles such as foreign, Japanese movies, animation, culture and education programs including those of Hollywood major studios, 1,000 selected latest and library movies will be available on pay-per-view from 100 yen to 400 yen (without tax) per title. With flat basic monthly user fees of 4,980 yen, all titles from selected 100 contents will be also avai lable for an unlimited time.
