Infogate Online, a leader in software solutions for IPTV, video on demand and games on demand over broadband networks, announced that
Scott County Telephone Cooperative, located in Gate City, VA., has selected Infogate Online's OnDema
TM middleware platform to deploy IPTV services including TV channels, video on demand and pay-per-view to more than 6,500 subscribers in western Virginia and Tennessee.
"Infogate provided significant advantages. Firstly, Infogate's OnDema platform can deliver content in both MPEG-2 for TV channels and Windows Media Video 9 for VOD, enabling us to take advantage of the benefits of each format especially the reduced bandwidth requirements of Windows Media", stated Bill Franklin, Chief Executive Officer at Scott County Telephone. "We are also able to easily integrate the OnDema platform with our customer billing system to provide our customers with a single bill for all services."
Infogate's OnDema platform enables telecommunications operators and ISPs to offer value-added services such as video on demand, interactive gaming, television channels, and live events to broadband subscribers using the subscriber’s set top box or personal computer (PC). The OnDema platform provides the infrastructure for distributing content and controlling, serving, and billing for services that until now could not be reliably provided due to bottlenecks between the content providers and the end users. OnDema supports content encoded in both Windows Media Series 9 or MPEG-2 formats.
Infogate partners include Logicalis providing the servers, Optibase and Tandberg providing the encoders, Occam providing the broadband Loop Carriers solution and Bast providing the set top boxes.
"VOD, TV channels and other on-demand services delivered over IP networks is quickly becoming a critical telco offering in the home communications service mix. Infogate's ability to provide an end-to-end solution which integrates all of the required components helps telecommunications companies like Scott County to achieve fast time-to-market with a compelling triple-play bundle of services", stated Daniel Levy, Infogate Online’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
