Orca Interactive announced that it has integrated its RiGHTv(TM) IPTV middleware applications with Amdocs IP Convergence Solution for IPTV. The Amdocs IPTV solution combines the Amdocs 6 portfolio of integrated, modular products, enabling service providers to accelerate the implementation of an integrated customer management strategy for emerging IPTV services.
The offering will combine Amdocs IPTV solution with Orca's IPTV applications such as broadcast TV over IP, VOD (Video-on-Demand), NVOD (Near Video-on-Demand), PVR (Personal Video Recording), pay-per-view, and other interactive services. As a result of this integration, service providers can simplify the entire customer experience and reduce time to market of new services, while creating the customer-centric environment needed to attract high-value customers.
Using both Amdocs' and Orca's IPTV SDP (service delivery platform) with a common set of APIs (application programming interfaces), Amdocs and Orca performed a smooth and seamless integration of their products. In addition, Amdocs has begun the development of additional advanced interactive TV services with Orca's SUI SDK (subscriber user interface software development kit). The Orca SUI SDK enables systems integrators, operators and third party vendors to differentiate their IPTV offerings by adding additional services customized with their own brand.
Other features of the Orca Interactive and Amdocs integration include:
-- Provisioning of a new subscriber and selected service package from Amdocs CRM into Orca's RiGHTv(TM)
-- Real-time "advice of change" for movies to reflect discounts calculated based on usage of various services within the bundle chosen by the subscriber. For example, the operator can define a rule to give a 10 percent discount on drama movies for subscribers that used at least 100 voice minutes per month.
-- Promotions to encourage subscribers to purchase certain content via discounts.
-- Display of full billing info on the TV, including call data records (CDRs) of fixed-line and mobile calls. The CDRs are available for display within seconds after call termination.
-- The PRM system, which splits the revenue earned from movie purchases between the operator and the content owner.
-- A self-care system that allows the subscriber to apply for a credit for a purchased movie. Once approved by the customer sales representative, the credit transaction can be viewed on the TV under "My Bill."
"As IPTV is a relatively new service in most areas, one of the key issues providers are concerned with is attracting and retaining subscribers," said Eran Wagner, vice president of interactive TV, Amdocs. "The integration between Orca's IPTV middleware, RiGHTv, and Amdocs IPTV solution enables service providers to interact directly with the end-user via the TV, resulting in an extraordinary customer experience, thus creating stronger, more intimate and more profitable customer relationships.
"As the IPTV market expands, the joint offering from Amdocs and Orca will provide our customers with the scalability and flexibility required to support the growing IPTV subscriber base with seamless ordering, fulfillment and billing for IPTV services and bundled packages," said Yosi Glick, VP Marketing & Business Development, Orca Interactive.
