Accedo Broadband, the leading provider of applications for IPTV and Connected TV, today announced the launch of a TV app for the 2011 Tour de France. The IPTV app, which has been developed by Accedo Broadband for Australian broadcaster, SBS, is available to download on 2011 models of LG Smart TV and Blu-ray devices.
The Tour de France, which is highly regarded as the world’s most prestigious cycling event, will begin this Saturday. The SBS Tour de France IPTV app will give fans across Australia access to live coverage every night, as well as instant access to the latest video highlights, interviews, gallery photos, stages information and standings.
"We are always looking for innovative ways to enhance our service for customers and tapping into the opportunities offered by Connected TV in this way is an excellent way of doing just that," commented Toby Forage, Executive Producer Online - Sport, SBS.
"Accedo Broadband was a natural choice to develop this app, given their experience developing a number of compelling applications for leading CE manufacturers, as well as content providers."
The SBS Tour de France IPTV app makes it even easier for Australian fans to keep up with the latest news from the event round the clock. It is the perfect companion to SBS’s TV coverage, adding another dimension through its exclusive features.
"This application is an example of how broadcasters can use the strengths of a Smart TV platform to extend their viewers experience," said Matt Kossatz, Director of Australia and New Zealand, Accedo Broadband. "We are excited to be working with SBS on this and look forward to working with them on other exciting projects for Australian and New Zealand users."
The SBS Tour de France IPTV app will be available throughout the event, which runs from Saturday 2nd until Sunday 24th July.
