Narrowstep announces that the company has been chosen to power
CAMPAIGNTV, a new politically focused Internet TV channel, which supports the UK’s Labour Party. CAMPAIGNTV is a completely independent project led by a group of filmmakers who are committed to making high-impact political programming accessible to everyone. The goal of CAMPAIGNTV is to provide viewers with a choice of programs in support of progressive politics, providing an alternative to the dominant right-leaning political content on UK-based sites. CAMPAIGNTV is a non-profit initiative, and any surplus will be re-invested into production and improvements to the site.
CAMPAIGNTV hosts a catalogue of recently-produced progressive political programming, including:
- An exclusive interview with UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the Labour conference paying tribute to John Smeaton, who helped stop a suicide car bomb attack at Glasgow airport.
- Leading Democrat, Tad Devine, reporting on the Presidential race in the US
- Lord Attenborough on the significance of the new Nelson Mandela statue in London’s Parliament Square and a history of the anti-apartheid movement in the UK
- A special feature on the fight against the BNP in the West Midlands, England.
- UK Secretary of State for Children, Ed Balls, up close in Bristol
- A debate on Muslim identity, featuring films from European Muslim women
- Ara Darzi discussing his new role as UK Health Minister and what people want from the NHS
- The Friday Interview - a weekly topical interview with a leading politician or campaigner
- The Debate Show - a weekly discussion program bringing together politicians, journalists, policy experts and activists
“In Britain and across the world there is an ever-growing demand for films that support a progressive cause,” said CAMPAIGNTV’s Publisher Gez Sagar. “CAMPAIGNTV is the place to find films making a case for the Labour Party, for trade unions and for other progressive campaigns. These films provide information, insights and the opportunity to hear politicians speaking in their own terms, outside the conventions of traditional media.”
CAMPAIGNTV is produced by an independent company, Silverfish Creative Ltd., led by an experienced management team with over 30 years of combined campaigning experience. The site’s Publisher, Gez Sagar, is a former Chief Press Officer for the Labour Party who has worked in PR and campaigning for 20 years. Stewart Till CBE, Non-Executive Chairman of CAMPAIGNTV, is former Chief Executive of UIP film distribution and currently Chairman of Millwall FC. Mark Lucas, Director, has worked on campaigns for the Labour Party and a wide range of political, charity and commercial clients in the UK and internationally.
“We are happy to provide a new outlet to independent film makers such as CAMPAIGNTV,” said David C. McCourt, Chairman and CEO of Narrowstep. “Our platform provides them with all the tools they need to spread their message to a global audience securely, and at the highest quality available on the Internet.”
