Kasenna today announced an agreement under which it will license its PortalTV suite (including Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase XMP), to Ericsson AB for integration with Ericsson's broadband access products. Together, Ericsson’s networking products and Kasenna’s Portal TV suite will provide a fully-integrated, one-stop IPTV solution for service providers. The combined solution will provide an integrated network and IPTV infrastructure carriers need to deliver advanced TV services such as video-on-demand, network PVR, StartOver TV, and customizable electronic programming guides (EPGs).
"Kasenna is excited to partner with Ericsson, a true Telecom industry leader, to target IPTV opportunities around the globe," said Kumar Shah, CEO of Kasenna. "The partnership between our two companies will extend from an integrated IPTV product suite to a tightly coupled sales and support services organization that will make it easier for telecom operators to immediately deploy a competitive, carrier-grade TV solution that not only generates revenue today but positions them for tomorrow’s needs."
"IPTV is much more than traditional broadcast TV over IP networks – it is about integrating media, content, and communications services with the power of the web to create a personalized entertainment portal on the television," said Mark Gray, Chairman and Executive Vice President of Kasenna. "The Kasenna PortalTV suite provides Ericsson a pre-integrated, scalable, and standards-based core IPTV framework. While the rest of the industry is still talking about MPEG-4 based IPTV deployments, we are providing Ericsson with a partner who is deploying them now," added Gray.
Kasenna will be hosting a press conference on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the GlobalComm conference in Chicago, IL and invites the IPTV industry media to attend.
