Amino announced that its market-leading consumer premises technology for internet protocol TV (IPTV) services, has been selected by Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting Ltd for its Hong Kong IPTV deployment. The company ordered a significant volume of AmiNET110 set-top boxes and launched the SUPERSUN service to deliver up to 40 channels of broadcast programming and movies to subscribers in Hong Kong.
This service roll-out in Hong Kong demonstrates Amino's increasing dominance of the IPTV industry in the Far East, where the company already counts some of the region's leading Telcos and IPTV service providers among its valued partners. "Hong Kong is one of the most competitive markets in terms of innovation and technology in Asia. Our AmiNET technology certainly exceeds the customer requirements for high performance and miniature, sleek design enabling Galaxy to remain competitive in this fiercely contested market," commented Jeff Tan, director of sales for Asia at Amino. "Galaxy is a service provider making use of Hong Kong's advanced IP network to deliver high-value content to the broad community of subscribers demonstrating the level of consumer demand for such services."
SUPERSUN, operated by Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting Limited, is one of the prominent pay-TV programme service suppliers in Hong Kong with See Corporation Limited and Television Broadcasts Limited as its major shareholders. Galaxy is able to offer subscribers popular original and local contents including drama, music and general entertainment. This adds significant value to its service offering in comparison to those of its competitors.
Jackey Chan, COO, Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting Ltd. noted, "It was important to work with Amino on this project as the company is a leader in its field and ensured pre-tested interoperability with our chosen hardware and software suppliers." He continued, "With such a strong IPTV offering, we expect to increase our subscriber base and value in Hong Kong over the coming years." The AmiNET110 features an Ethernet input and flexible audio/video output, together with Dolby Digital Output and an RF Modulator output to provide multicast and on-demand video control within a sleek and elegant package, based on the company's award-winning design. The product is also compatible with the ReadyLinks Smartfoot(TM) and Coaxsys home networking adapters allowing operators to avoid costly wiring of CAT5 cable throughout the home.
