IMAKE, the major provider of solutions and services that enable the seamless delivery and management of interactive and On Demand broadband services, announced that it reached a new company milestone this month. IMAKE's OpenVision software now ingests, or processes, and distributes more than 4,800 titles and over 2,500 hours of content each month.
IMAKE's Chairman and CEO Mark Schaszberger said, "We are extremely proud to reach our second milestone at IMAKE this year. Not only has the IMAKE OpenVision product suite become the most widely deployed back-office VOD solution, but our products now support more than 2,500 hours of content and more than 4,800 titles every month. This new milestone is a significant achievement for IMAKE, and it once again demonstrates that our scalable, open standards-based products continue to meet the evolving needs of both service and content providers."
Ingestion is the process of managing and processing content, such as video and music, prior to distribution. Content must be ingested after it is first pitched, or sent, to a satellite and then caught, or received, by a catcher on the ground. This content is then transferred into IMAKE's OpenVision Asset Manager, which automatically ingests, or manages, the distribution of content across numerous media server gateways, or sites, in a process known as multicasting.
The IMAKE OpenVision product suite is an open standards-based platform that supports broadcast, On Demand and IPTV content. Designed for use by cable television providers, telecommunications companies, and content providers, OpenVision adds an enhanced level of intelligence to the network to reduce errors, maximize productivity, and enable a new level of control and automation.
