Optibase, Ltd. announced that FPT communications, Vietnam's leading Internet Service Provider (ISP), has chosen the Optibase MGW 1100 Media Gateway to launch a new live television streaming service to its DSL subscribers.
By capitalizing on technologies such as MPEG compression, IP Video streaming and xDSL, ISPs can offer cable-like digital television services to drive their business expansion. The addition of broadcast television to the scope of offerings yields higher monthly revenues for the ISP and is more cost-effective for both the ISP and the subscriber in that it utilizes the service provider's existing broadband copper and fiber infrastructure.
"We are pleased to provide this new video service to the market," said Mr. Mai Sung, vice director at FPT. "We selected Optibase because its Media Gateway platform, is available for immediate deployment and offers the range of features, flexibility and scalability that our network requires. Additionally, Optibase's support in the Asia Pacific region proved to be invaluable in an environment where time to market is critical."
"Our Media Gateway platforms are already enabling operators worldwide to offer advanced services that increase their customer base and reduce churn," said Uzi Breier, CEO of Optibase. "We are glad to have been chosen by FPT and are actively increasing our footprint in the Asia Pacific IPTV market with recent deployments in China and Taiwan."
