Digital TV Labs launches a unique CI Plus Operator Test Tool at ANGA 2011, designed to allow operators to easily and comprehensively test receivers in their market.
As the world’s largest independent digital TV receiver testing company and the official CI Plus test facility, Digital TV Labs’ CI Plus Operator Test Tool deploys the company’s market-leading expertise within the field. The Tool allows operators to test CI Plus compliance, covering all the key aspects of the specification and full testing of the CI Plus (MHEG-based) browser functionality. The latter provides branding opportunities and access to value-added services, such as VoD.
The Test Tool is designed to serve two key purposes. It firstly allows operators to ensure that the production CI Plus receivers available in their market are absolutely compliant with the specifics of their networks. The Tool is also ideal for operators who are trialling, developing and testing CI Plus, as it can be used to test scenarios such as Usage Rules Information combinations for content recording and receiver output control, as well as simulated CAM software upgrade by over-the-air download.
Keith Potter, CEO, Digital TV Labs, explains, “Operators are anxious, and rightly so, to be certain that receivers meet all their requirements. The official CI Plus certification regime is very comprehensive but operators are likely to want to be able to confirm that the specific platform variants are compliant to all aspects of the CI Plus specification.”
The Test Tool includes a comprehensive user guide, encrypted DVB-S/C/T test streams and is provided with a free training day complete with a CI Plus master class. With CI Plus fast becoming a standard feature in most European iDTVs, and adoption planned in Sweden, Finland, Ukraine, UK, Italy, Russia and Norway, it’s hard to overestimate the importance of the security standard.
