AT&T U-verse is the fastest growing TV service in the country, with more TV subscribers added than any of the major TV providers reported in 2009 and 2010.
AT&T U-verse TV had its best quarter of the year during the fourth quarter of 2010, adding 246,000 subscribers to reach nearly 3 million U-verse TV customers in service. AT&T U-verse added 28 percent more customers during 2010 than the next closest competitor. Additionally, AT&T U-verse gained nearly a million subscribers, while the major reporting cable providers lost more than a million subscribers combined during the year. As of the fourth quarter of 2010, AT&T U-verse services are an annualized revenue stream of $5 billion. AT&T added nearly 2 million customers since year-end 2008, and announced in January that U-verse TV subscribers in service now exceed 3 million.
AT&T U-verse customer success is driven by an all-Internet Protocol service that delivers a better TV experience. AT&T continues to use its IP platform to further integrate TV, broadband, home phone and wireless services in new and meaningful ways for customers. More than three-fourths of AT&T U-verse TV subscribers have a triple- or quad-play bundle from AT&T.
In 2010, AT&T significantly expanded TV watching options for its customers by delivering hit TV shows on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, U-verse TV on Xbox 360 and U-verse Mobile. U-verse Mobile lets U-verse TV subscribers browse their program guide, manage DVR recordings, and with a qualifying U-verse TV plan, download and watch hit TV shows on their smartphone. The app is available on 14 select devices and four major mobile operating systems. In 2010, AT&T U-verse Mobile was honored with a TelcoTV Vision Award for Service Provider Innovation.
