Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "
IPTV Market Leaders Report 2010 Edition" report to their offering. This new MLR tracks the top 120 IPTV Vendors in 24 sub-sectors that are leading the IPTV market globally and in four global regions based on their deployments in over 850 IPTV Service Providers (SPs) worldwide. Almost 50 new SPs have begun offering IPTV service since October 2009, most of those in North America, Europe and the Rest of World regions. The report ranks and evaluates the position of Vendors that provide IPTV Access Systems, Video Headends, Video-on-Demand servers, Set-top Boxes, Middleware, and Content Protection.
Larger IPTV Vendors are building a full IPTV ecosystem so they can continue to work with large Telcos around the world. For example, Motorola recently acquired a CP/DRM (Content Protection) Vendor (SecureMedia) and a VOD Vendor (BitBand), and now appears in all six IPTV product categories.
While this trend continues for larger Vendors, some smaller Vendors continue to serve small IPTV Operators, often in their own region of the world. In the Middleware and Set-top Box segments, for example, some small Vendors serve just a few regions, and sometimes just a specific country. Other small Vendors, such as Verimatrix, have successfully built partnerships in all regions with larger Vendors, helping to maintain their global category leadership.
For the first time, this report includes added Vendor-ranking profiles for all companies ranked within the top 10 in all regional sectors (compared to the top 5 in the past). Also, up/down arrows are added alongside the Vendor rankings, making it easier to understand how each Vendor is faring compared with the last MLR.
The report also anticipates upside growth potential for each of the top 25-30 vendors in the industry, based on their participation in the twenty-five largest and fastest-growing Service Providers in four global regions.
Growth Prospects
In addition, this report tracks the growth prospects for each company. This is accomplished by tracking how many large IPTV service deployments the company is part of. For every vendor, tables are included that count the vendors significant IPTV deployments, both globally and within each region. A Service Provider is identified as a significant deployment if it is currently among the top 25 IPTV Operators in terms of total IPTV subscribers. A list of the top 25 IPTV Operators can be found in Table 1-2 of the report.
