DISCOP, a TV content market focused on Central and Eastern Europe has unveiled plans for DISCOPRO, a new day-long conference and networking event dedicated to co-production opportunities in the region. The announcement was made jointly by Patrick Jucaud, General Manager, DISCOP and Rick Feldman, President and Chief Executive Officer, National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), DISCOP’s joint partner.
DISCOPRO will be held on Tuesday, June 19 on the eve of DISCOP 07, which runs this year from Wednesday, June 20 though Friday, June 22 in Budapest.
Panels and seminars will be offered on topics related to an in-depth overview of all the EU, government and privately-backed incentive packages available to stimulate pan-European co-productions in the CEE. Sessions will offer expert and timely information on various subsidies, loans and other incentives funded by the European Union and its affiliated programs as well as the impact of the "Television Without Frontiers" directive on European co-productions.
DISCOPRO is open to all registered DISCOP attendees.
"With the recent expansion of the European Union, the proposed ascension of the Balkans to the EU, a booming CEE-based television industry and the recent revision of the "Television Without Frontiers" directive, the number of pan-European co-production deals involving Central and Eastern Europe will increase dramatically," said Mr. Jucaud. "There has never been a better time for a conference such as DISCOPRO and we look forward to expanding the program into an annual event."
After 15 years of operating independently, DISCOP entered a joint-venture in 2005 with NATPE, the Los Angeles-based National Association of Television Program Executives which is a global non-profit organization dedicated to the creation, development and distribution of televised programming in all forms, across all mature and emerging media platforms.
