Orbit E-Commerce Inc.
("OECI"), and
PureNet.Tv Inc. ("PureNet"),
announced today the selection of Foundry Networks Inc. ("Foundry") to
supply its NetIron Multicast Routers for their recently announced IPTV
project in the Peoples Republic of China ("China").
For the past three years, OECI and PureNet ("the Company") have worked
closely with some of the world's most innovative technology companies to
develop advanced Internet Protocol Television ('IPTV') networks. The
vendors selected for its IPTV deployment in China will enable the Company
and its partner, United Wireless Ltd., to construct a high quality digital
IPTV network capable of serving the needs of millions of current and future
subscribers (see OECI's Press Release dated October 19, 2006).
Foundry is a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end
switching and routing. Their NetIron Series of Internet and MPLS core
routers were selected because of their superior terabit-scale architecture.
This proven technology will future-proof the Company's IPTV network with
unparalleled performance, scalability, affordability and resiliency in the
delivery of its IPTV and multi-play services.
Equipment from Foundry and the other network vendors selected will be
staged and tested in Toronto, Ontario and then shipped to China for its "on
schedule" deployment in the upcoming weeks.
Douglas C. Lloyd, President and CEO of OECI and PureNet stated, "We
welcome Foundry's participation and we look forward to working closely with
them over the next three years and beyond as we roll out our digital IPTV
products and services to United Wireless' 15 million subscribers across
China."
