Amino, leading IPTV platform supplier, announces the first ever demonstration in Asia of the AmiNET125 at IPTV World Forum Asia 2006. Roy Kirsopp, VP and General Manager of Amino will also be talking about IPTV technology during his 'Creating the connected home' presentation at 2pm on 28th September.
The AmiNET125 is a new fully featured multi-codec device supporting standard definition (SD) video streams. It offers operators greatly increased return on investment (ROI) and average revenue per user (ARPU) through the provision of support for future services and a low-cost, powerful hardware design.
The AmiNET125 has been built on a new hardware platform, which draws on the popular AmiNET110 MPEG-2 and award-winning AmiNET124 MPEG-4 devices to offer multiple software configurations and support for both traditional and advanced codecs without the need for expensive equipment upgrades. The platform features a programmable DSP to support low bit rate codecs and remote software upgrades without the need for hardware truck rolls. The integrated host processor enables highly responsive support for multiple middleware and enhanced user interface services.
"This device will allow our customers to stay ahead of the curve and offer the most advanced services to their subscribers, boosting ROI and ARPU, while keeping their costs low," commented Roy Kirsopp, VP and General Manager of Amino. "It combines the best features from our previous SD units and the enhanced features will help operators to reduce customer churn".
The unit, which supports home networking, is expected to prove particularly attractive to the Asian markets which have embraced SD IPTV and the increased market reach offered by the latest video compression standards. The addition of a USB 2.0 connector also adds an extra level of future proofing. "We predict that additional applications such as video telephony over IP will become increasingly attractive as time goes by," continued Kirsopp. "Therefore, we are ensuring that our platform can be easily expanded to cope with the changing market needs while also offering immediate value to our customers."
