Packet Vision, stand 3.218: Introducing addressable advertising for IPTV, Mobile TV and other formats One-to-one interviews and product demonstrations available IBC 2005 sees the official launch of Packet Vision (stand 3.218): developers of a new delivery platform for highly targeted advertising on IPTV. This British company is using IBC as the first public showing of its addressable advertising solution, which enables many advertising commercials to be shown simultaneously in one slot, targeting demographic groups or even individual households. And at the same time the system gathers information about viewers’ reactions.
In this way, the Packet Vision approach will help to generate revenue for service providers venturing into IPTV, as well as giving advertisers a way to target consumers far more effectively than has been possible before.
Sited inside the network, a single PV1000 ‘pizza box’ combines media server, splicer, playout router and management API. No changes are needed to viewers’ set-top boxes and it will support up to 200 IPTV subscribers/subscriber groups and up to 200 input channels.
Packet Vision has been privately funded, with some impressive backers, and is receiving considerable interest from telcos, partners and broadcasters it has spoken to already. The company’s directors have been involved in many successful ventures before and have considerable experience in the new media/IP world. See
www.packetvision.com for details.
