ANT plc, a leading provider of embedded browser, content control and user interface software for IPTV and consumer electronics markets, announced the availability of its next generation browser-based user interface software, ANT Galio, on IPTV set-top boxes from six leading developers - Pace Micro Technology, Amino Communications, Homecast, Humax, InfoEQ and Kaon Media.
Building on ANTs expertise within the IPTV market, ANT Galio provides an advanced IPTV Client Software Platform capable of delivering a new level of highly dynamic user experiences. Galio's complete user interface enables small, fast and easy to build, mixed-media IPTV applications, covering local device set-up menus and controls through high performance local implementations of complex remote services such as Electronic Programming Guides, Video on Demand interfaces, interactive advertising and dynamic news, information and communication applications.
An ANT Galio advanced browser-based user interface solution complements the capabilities of current and future IPTV set-top boxes. Featuring the latest television and W3C standards, Galio combines Cascading Style Sheet standards (CSS 2.1, CSS TV and aspects of CSS 3), with a dynamic, JavaScript-driven Document Object Model to provide advanced capabilities and high performance within a small memory footprint. The use of W3C standards enables operators to repurpose existing Web content and develop groundbreaking interactive content and complex TV-based applications quickly and easily using existing knowledge and off-the-shelf tools. A Galio-enabled set-top box gives operators access to a highly competitive, cost-effective solution, delivering greater flexibility and significantly raising the quality of the user experience and the range of enhanced interactive services possible.
"We are pleased to have such a powerful group of set-top developers ready to ship Galio in their set-top boxes," said Stephen Reeder, executive director, sales and marketing, ANT plc. "ANT provides the fundamental point of interaction between the consumer and an IPTV service. This is the crucial area for customer satisfaction which ultimately drives the success and profitability for these developers and their operator customers."
