Optibase, Ltd., a leading provider of advanced digital video solutions announced that a high-end surveillance application based on Optibase's video streaming solutions will be presented at Le Bourget, the world's premier air show. This is another example of the company's ability to utilize its advanced telco-grade IPTV platforms in applications other than Telco TV. Optibase's Professional Services group served as the prime contractor for the video portion of the project providing a comprehensive video-based command and control solution.
Optibase's platforms have been integrated into a sophisticated command and control system co-developed by IAI (Israel Aircraft Industries) and NESS Technologies (TSG), which facilitates high-end surveillance from unmanned aircraft aerial vehicles (UAV). Live video signals are delivered from the cameras installed on the UAV over an RF link to a mobile trailer located on the ground. The trailer is equipped with Optibase's MGW 200, which encodes the video signal into MPEG-2 and transmits it over a point-to-point wireless connection to dispersed command centers. The command centers are fitted out with a video tracking and annotation system that displays and keeps track of all video signals that are being transmitted from multiple sensors. The system can display up to 8 video sources at a time in low resolution MPEG-4 and high quality MPEG-2 video streams. The video is transmitted from the mobile trailers to the command centers with very low delay. Additionally, the system archives the video signals and stores them based on thumbnail ID for later retrieval.
"We are proud to demonstrate that our solutions are at the forefront of mission critical applications," said Optibase's CEO, Uzi Breier. "Our customer had strict requirements for a turnkey solution that we were able to fulfill though professional project design, integration of our own video building blocks together with third party-products and customization. We provided IAI with an end-to-end solution in a matter of weeks and look forward to additional projects together."
"As a world leader in the UAV field, IAI Malat is committed to the highest quality solutions," said Ami Shilo, Command and Control project manager at IAI/ Malat. "We have worked closely with Optibase to design an advanced system that enables a reliable live video dialog between commanders in the field and at headquarters. Using this system they will all have live access to the same video content and real-time visual communication regardless of their location. This is a huge advantage in combat zones."
