Media Excel, Inc., a leading provider of software and hardware compression and streaming technologies, announced a new product line targeted at the IPTV and digital home markets; all new products will be showcased at NAB in Las Vegas April 16th - 21st, booth #SL 5826. Visitors will experience live demos of end to end IPTV Solutions for Live Broadcast, Video-on-Demand (VoD), IP-Set-top boxes and mobile devices powered by Media Excel's SoftStream ® products based on advanced compression standards such as H.264.
With this announcement, the company is expanding the SoftStream ® product line to include software and hardware compression, streaming, and decoding technologies. "SoftStream ® is Media Excel's product line for end to end IPTV deployments, which is the culmination of Media Excel's in-house development of advanced software compression and streaming technologies combined with our experience from live IPTV deployments in America, Europe, and Asia for major telecommunications companies," said Thanasis Iatrou, the company's President.
SoftStream ® is comprised of these hardware and software products:
- H.264 Transcoder: Real-time transcoding of MPEG-2 HD/SD content to H.264. This PCI-based multi-processor card is targeted at Internet broadcasters who want to reduce their re-encoding, storage and transmission costs by converting in real time the format of legacy digital video (MPEG-2) to advanced H.264 format
- Streaming Media Server: Streaming software for efficient distribution of digital media, including H.264 and other video compression formats
- MiniPCI card: PCI based H.264 encoding and decoding solutions for PC users. Based on a flexible software configurations the card can be used in any combination of encoding, streaming, or decoding for many video and industrial applications
- Set-Top Box: Media Excel provides a world-class, broadcast quality hardware and software solution including single or multi-codec format playback (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264 and Windows Media) for IPTV clients
- Mobile Video: Media Excel's H.264 software decoder allows low bit rate media to be streamed to handheld devices over wireless or satellite connections
